What to Expect

I strive to provide a well-rounded, individualized, piano education program from beginning to Early-Advanced levels. Students who wish to pursue a higher level of study may be transferred to my husband, Chris Rice. Because I am a Arizona State Music Teachers Association member, students are eligible to participate in various competitions, festivals and evaluations (like the Arizona Study Program). Students will find that through the lessons, they will not only improve their piano skills, but also see growth in self-confidence and commitment to reaching long-term goals.

Private Piano Lessons

At the beginning of each semester, we will review the students goals for piano study. In each student's personalized study program, we cover piano repertoire, music theory, technique, music history, ear training, musicianship, composition, sight-reading and sight-singing, world music, and collaboration with other musicians/artists. In order to give students a greater understanding of how musicians contribute to society, I provide both traditional recitals and innovative performance opportunities (such as coffee shop, open mic, or dinner concerts). This creates a positive space for students to inspire others with their art.

Preschool Music group class

I’ve studied multiple preschool curriculum and have curated a program focusing on developing a love for music in a young child. We practice listening skills including ear-training and pitch recognition to help children understand what they are hearing. We explore the lives of composers and music history in playful ways to allow children to feel connected to the musical world on a deeper level. Finally, at this age, we encourage music to be approached as play with the whole family.

music Theory Tutoring

Available to anyone looking for extra help to ace the Arizona Study Program theory exam. Or maybe you just want to understand the basics of music theory, chord realizations, and elementary composition/arrangement techniques.
